Green left the group Truth to travel the world. This was after him being with the group for two years (1976 until 1978). He made the Gaither Vocal Band joined by Gary McSpadden, Lee Young, and Bill Gaither in 1980.

In his first two albums, Green sang tenor. He withdrew from White Heart in 1983. He had joined the band since he was uncomfortable as a Rock Band. He had an encounter with his brother, Randy, that same year. This confrontation changed his life to a spiritual renewal life.
