A massive fire has broken out at a $19million mansion in Beverly Hills which was made famous by being featured on reality TV. The house, formerly home to Lisa Vanderpump from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, was engulfed in flames and smoke as firefighters were unable to stop the blaze for an hour and a half.

The ‘Real Housewives’ cast was apparently filming at the next-door mansion at the time the fire broke out, and subsequently had to halt production.

Officials were called to the eight-bedroom mansion around 6.30 local time, and within just minutes had called for back-up in a desperate attempt to control the fire. Around 100 firefighters were needed to tackle the fire, which was brought under control at 8pm.

The destructive blaze is believed to have started in the attic and quickly ripped through the rest of the roof before spreading to lower floors. The cast and crew of the Real Housewives had to be evacuated from Adrienne Maloof’s home nearby where they were filming scenes for the show’s new season, according to TMZ.

Ms Maloof’s husband, plastic surgeon Paul Nassif, wrote on Twitter: ‘At home with the family and smelled smoke. The house across the street from us is on fire.’
