Josh Brainard

Josh Brainard was one of the original Slipknot guitarists, alongside Donnie Steele. He was asked to join the band after playing with Joey, Anders, and Paul for several years. Initially, Josh was the topping to the music produced, adding back up vocals, a touch of melody, and Brainard’s work on the Guitar was placed over what was already there, mainly noise and wah pedal stuff.

He was present for both MFKR and the self-titled album, being in both the recordings. Most people are unaware that he recorded all but one of the songs on the self-titled album, the song he does not appear on being Purity which contained Josh’s replacement Jim Root.

Slipknot: His Former Band

Josh was associated with the famous band Slipknot. It is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines in 1995 by drummer Joey Jordison, percussionist Shawn Crahan, and bassist Paul Gray. Josh left the band after some years in 1999.

The reason behind Brainard’s leaving the band is between him and Slipknot; they are still good friends, and Josh didn’t leave because of touring and being away from his family; this is simply a rumor.

Josh’s band is known for its attention-grabbing image; the members perform wearing unique, individual facemasks and matching uniforms—typically jumpsuits—while each member is generally assigned and referred to by number based on their role band. However, the latter practice has diminished following the death of Paul Gray.
