Joanna Lumley News
Wednesday 6th Mar, 2019Absolutely Fabulous fans rejoice! Joanna Lumley is teasing a rebootJoanna played the stylish magazine fashion director in the long-running comedy series. Source: GettyJoanna Lumley has hinted that an Absolutely Famous reboot is possible during an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday.
The 72-year-old British actress admitted she wouldn’t rule out reviving her memorable role of Patsy Stone in the hit 1990s series. Joanna played the stylish magazine fashion director in the popular comedy series, opposite Jennifer Saunders’ Edina Monsoon.
“We keep thinking it is the end but there is some weird nagging thing, particularly for Patsy and Eddie, they don’t seem to have gone back into their boxes so maybe something will come up,” she told the publication.
And Joanna’s biggest reasons for wanting to revive her character? She doesn’t want to have any regrets later in life.
“You cram it all in and do what you can because you will regret it when you are 90 and drooling and unable to walk,” she added.
Absolutely Fabulous hit television screens in 1992 and ran for five seasons before going off air in 2012. The show was one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, and is ranked as the 17th greatest British TV show of all time by the British Film Institute. A film based on the series was released to theatres in 2016.
Last month the 72-year-old star turned heads at the BAFTA Film Gala in London in a vibrant floral-patterned full skirt which fell all the way to the floor, revealing just a hint of a black court shoe, and featured wide pleats that flattered Joanna’s svelte figure perfectly.
Joanna, who is as well-known for her velvet voice as she is for her on-screen roles, looked stunning as she posed on the red carpet wearing the black and royal blue ensemble.
She completed the effortlessly sophisticated look with a simple black camisole and cardigan, allowing the bold pattern of her skirt and a statement blue necklace to do the talking at the event, which was held ahead of this Sunday’s prestigious awards ceremony.
The British icon also showed off her dazzling personality as she had a bit of a laugh on the red carpet, striking a number of over-the-top poses for the photographers at the event.
