Jeff Emig Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Cam Jeffrey Emig (born December 1, 1970 in Kansas City, Kansas) was a professional motocross racer who competed for Yamaha and Kawasaki in the 1990s. He won four major championships throughout his career. Jeremy McGrath was his most significant competitor. The 1990s saw Emig win 36 motocross races and four championships, more than any other racer (apart from McGrath) during that time period. He was also the only rider in the 1990s to win back-to-back 250cc motocross national championships, in 1996 and 1997, making him the most decorated rider of the decade. As a member of the United States Motocross des Nations team, he competed on six occasions, with the U.S. team winning the World Championship three times in 1992, 1993, and 1996.  In 1998, he suffered an injury after a five-race stretch in which he won four and finished second in the other race. While competing in the indoor supercross series, he was often overshadowed by McGrath. Emig had one of his most successful seasons in 1997. His seven victories were followed by five second-place finishes and one fifth-place result in the 13-race series. That year, he took home 17 of the 26 motocross races. In 1999, Emig was released from his contract with the Kawasaki racing team. He would return as a privateer, riding a Yamaha YZ250 and backed by a small group of sponsors.  He won the US Open of Supercross in Las Vegas, only a few weeks after being released by Kawasaki, and it was his last big success in the sport. A triple jump failed to land for Emig on December 30, 1999, at the track of fellow Yamaha rider and neighbour Stephane Roncada in Riverside County, California, causing him to break both forearms above the wrist. Emig’s career came to an end on May 4, 2000, when he was training for the National Motocross Championship, which would take place later that year.  Emig was involved in another terrible accident in which he smashed a vertebra in his back and had a complex fracture in his right lower leg, which forced him to retire. Emig’s ability to get off to a fast start was renowned. In the 1990s, his clutch control and bravery in the first corner allowed him to take the lead into the first turn of numerous races. He was known for being difficult to pass, and he usually rode with his elbows up and outward in an outward motion.  Currently, he is married to Jennifer, with whom he has two children: Presley and Jagger. He continues to be engaged with MX on a variety of levels, including colour commentary on Speed and CBS television shows. In 2004, Emig was recognised into the American Motorcycle Association’s Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
